Help!! I'm Drowning in Politics!

Help! I'm addicted to political wrangling...

I used to love hearing the Council Wars on WXRT with Aaron Freeman back in the 80's, recounting what was happening with Mayor Harold Washington and the lakefront liberals VS. the Vrdolyak 29 and the other naysayers of Daley's old machine. Mayor Washington and the liberals had to use the force against Ed Vrdolyak and Ed Burke.

I used to see Barack Obama on WTTW's Chicago Tonight with John Calloway, talking about the folks on the south side of Chicago and the dire problems they were facing.

Now, every day I obsessively read Daily Kos and Huffington Post and Mothering.com which has links to The New York Times and The Atlantic.

With the smear tactics of McCain's campaign and the worry of the roller-coaster polls, I'm getting sick of this round of fighting. Thank goodness the election is only a couple of weeks away. I can not take much more of this.

Or can I?

I felt the same today. That's why I've put a personal moratorium on politics talk on my own blog. I get enough of it everywhere else...I figured I don't need to be spouting off about it too.

Here, look at a mindless website instead: http://www.stuffonmycat.com/

That is a very funny site! I can not look at that if my daughter is around because, frankly, we're already trying to curb some of that behavior.

We say things like, "No. Daisy does not want to wear a hair scrunchy around her neck as a ruff!" "No. She does not want to lie down in the doll's cradle with a blanket over her."

I like the fat cat wearing the little fireman's helmet, with droopy eyelids whose going to get right on that fire...

Today, while driving to work I was pondering Obama's election and the deep Chicago connection involved in his election. I was wondering what effect Harold Washington's time as Mayor affected the future we are living now. Anyway... I Googled Council wars and ran across your blog.

Thanks for visiting Mathman6293. I'm sure there are all sorts of forces and connections that impinged on Obama's victory.

One thing leads to another...always.

The Council Wars were fun. Well, the parody was fun. The actual war was fun to listen to, but not experience.

Thanks for dropping by.
