Do you ever really like some songs, but never know the lyrics very well? Like in this song, I just got the reference to Chaucer's Canterbury Tales..."as the Miller told his tale"
What is this song about any way?
Are there songs that you like, but you don't know the words very well? In the 80s, when Z. Z. Top (who I don't really like) was "just looking for some tush" I always thought that they were singing that they were "just looking for some touch." I thought it was some kind of euphemism. My older sister thinks that's hilarious. Yeah, well. Fine.
OK. Let's all enjoy Procol Harum's Whiter Shade of Pale.
Also, what does Procol Harum mean?

My favorite literary reference in a song is in Riders on the Storm by The Doors. One of the lines, that, in my experience, many people do not get, is "Like Hector out alone..." That is a reference to Homer's Illiad, where Hector, the great prince and champion of the Trojans must fight Achilles, knowing that he will die.
I did not know that! (remember Johnny Carson?)
Now I'm going to have to go and listen to that song.
Poor Hector...
