Random Questions for You

The other day, I posted a response over at Pioneer Woman's blog. Do you know her? She's a homeschooling rancher's wife and a great photographer. Since then, people have been visiting me from over there and I've been absolutely inundated with throngs of wonderful, curious people. Thanks for visiting my blog!

I get lots of other visitors too, some from Mothering, some from google searches, some from other blogs who've listed me as good people. (Thanks, and it's mutual). Mostly, people are fairly quiet when they visit here. But, I thought it'd be fun if I could ask you guys questions, and hopefully you'll feel like answering. Answer any or all of the questions--whatever strikes your mood! I would like to get to know all of you.

Here we go:

If you had your choice of a chocolate croissant or some potato chips, which would you choose?

Would you rather laugh or cry at a movie?

Who's your favorite philosopher?

Which is your favorite monster family--Addams or Munsters?

Do you care about public aesthetics? (I hate the look of certain water towers, for example--do you find some structures in public spaces that you don't like?)

Kids, or no kids? How many?

How did you meet your partner?

How long have you been together?

What is important to you?

What work do you do that's important?

What do you love?

What do you hate?

What worries you?

What sustains you?

What reaffirms your faith in Man?

Do you always use your turn signal?

What are you looking for?

What have you found?

What have you lost?

Milk chocolate or dark?

Will the Cubs ever win the World Series, and do you care?

What's your favorite Summer Olympics event, and do you love the Olympics as much as I do? (It's coming soon!)

When you create, what do you do?

What's your least favorite chore around the house?

What do you like least about this blog (I might have some ideas...)

What do you like most about this blog?

Thanks very much for participating in the first interactive We Don't Buy It data retrieval process trends analysis compilation set!

If you had your choice of a chocolate croissant or some potato chips, which would you choose?

Thanks Grace--beautiful name! I'm with you on skipping the food--I'm trying to lose weight too. My husband and I met in high school, dated, I married someone else, then divorced, my husband and I got back together 10 years later.

I'm sorry to make you feel I think I'm superior--I don't think that. I'm just mad about the connections I see. I'm glad you can get some positive things here, that really is my goal.

If you had your choice of a chocolate croissant or some potato chips, which would you choose? Definitely the chocolate croissant. Why even ask? :-)

Would you rather laugh or cry at a movie? laugh - though lately I mostly watch movies that frustrate me/make me angry.

Do you care about public aesthetics? (I hate the look of certain water towers, for example--do you find some structures in public spaces that you don't like?) Meh. I care a little, but not much.

Kids, or no kids? How many? One so far. Contemplating numero dos.

How long have you been together? Nearly six years now.

What is important to you? Love, peace, the environment. Happiness.

What work do you do that's important? Right now, mostly community outreach stuff (both formal and informal). As a grad student I don't feel I do much "work", but I help out with the local Obama campaign, a local democratic Congressional candidate's campaign, and with La Leche League. It feels like a lot.

What's your favorite Summer Olympics event, and do you love the Olympics as much as I do? (It's coming soon!) I love to watch the runners. They amaze me. Sadly, I haven't watched any Olympic events in years (due to lack of TV).

When you create, what do you do? Dance, or bead. I make necklaces and earrings. Or I'll bake something sweet that I know will earn me praise.

What's your least favorite chore around the house? Dishes. Forever dishes.

What do you like least about this blog (I might have some ideas...) I dunno...I like it. Some things are more pertinent to my life than others, but it's not my blog.

Laura said...

Aw shucks mama bee, I think you're pretty neat too and I check out your blog all of the time to see what's happening with you in your part of the world.

It sounds like you're doing quite a bit--thanks for helping with the Obama campaign out there...do you get any takers?

Harry Caray had the best voice, didn't he?

Thanks for visiting here!

If you had your choice of a chocolate croissant or some potato chips, which would you choose? - neither, I'm on a serious health kick right now. My self righteousness disgusts even me.

What's your least favorite chore around the house? sweeping

What do you like most about this blog? Your passion about politics. I might disagree with your political choices a lot of the time, but thoroughly enjoy reading what you have to write. I wish more people were passionate about politics, it might cause politicians to be more accountable.

Laura said...

Thanks Shez!

I like to cry at movies too. If you haven't seen the Swiss 1990 movie "Journey of Hope" about Turkish emigres to Switzerland, you really should. It is gut wrenching--I saw it before becoming a mother and don't know if I could even manage to get through it now. Difficult choices in that movie...

I appreciate your political sensibilties too--there is some overlap in our views. I know you supported Ron Paul--anti-war and very pro homeschooling. Obama's against the war and has commended parents for homeschooling--he's definitely supportive of parental involvement in education, including homeschooling.

Yours is one of the blogs I frequent and I always get some good information and I love seeing what your kids are doing. My kids are impressed with Shira's and Ben's paintings and are now inspired to take an art class. Thanks!

Thanks for visiting.

You're an optimist--the Cubs will win this year! Maybe...I'm 42 and they haven't won yet. At least they're not mathematically out of it like my husband and I always joke they are after the first game of the season.

I'm the youngest of 4--that seems like such a big family to me now, but growing up it was just us.

I'm looking for sanity too. Good luck to us.

Thanks for visiting.

If you had your choice of a chocolate croissant or some potato chips, which would you choose? Neither, though if I were out of tortilla chips, I might dip potato chips in queso out of desperation

Would you rather laugh or cry at a movie? I haven’t found a movie that made me laugh in so long. I like the full-box-of-tissue flicks. A bonus- I’ve read that stress hormones are secreted in tears.

Who's your favorite philosopher? I have a hard time reading views that aren’t couched in specific terms. Give me an issue and I can tell you whose thoughts resonate.

Which is your favorite monster family--Addams or Munsters? Addams by far (double snap)

Do you care about public aesthetics? (I hate the look of certain water towers, for example--do you find some structures in public spaces that you don't like?) I find a lack of green depressing- lack of greenspace, lack of trees, etc.

What worries you? Global warming, declining water quality, political apathy

What sustains you? My kids’ questions, my attempts at gardening, hiking in state parks, the support and insight of my husband

What reaffirms your faith in Man? My homeschool support group- We’re a diverse bunch. We do a pretty darn good job of focusing on our commonalities and connecting with one another. Are we scalable? That I don’t know.

Do you always use your turn signal? Yes, and I’ve been told that I drive like a grandmother.

What are you looking for? A beautiful yet cheap piece of land on which sits an old farmhouse that does not require major renovation, provides privacy and is closish to a small city

What have you found? What I’m looking for at prices I can’t afford

What have you lost? Visual contact with my parents, who are happily retired on a sailboat somewhere in Central America. I’ll get it back though. Til then, we do email and Skype.

Milk chocolate or dark? both

Will the Cubs ever win the World Series, and do you care? Not even on the radar

When you create, what do you do? A sense of community, a scrapbook/blog post, a (hopefully justified) sense of urgency

What's your least favorite chore around the house? Cleaning the kitchen

What do you like least about this blog (I might have some ideas...) hmmm,…your taste in music doesn’t always sync with mine

What do you like most about this blog? Political views and homeschool stories

Thanks Anne!

When we were kids, before my mom knew better, we ate cheese that came spritzing out of a can with a rosette nozzle--good on a Ritz.

Wow what an adventure your parents are having--that sounds fantastic.

I feel a great sense of community with my homeschool group as well. Thank God for like-minded people.

Thanks for visiting!
