I will check out ...Fabulous first comment, Carole!

I will check out your SFG--I'm glad to hear it's turning out.

On excessively humid days, or if it's raining, if I line dry inside the clothes always get a mildewy smell, and then I end up washing them again. I could use the dryer on those days too.

Here's to a dryer filled future!Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01151628332074616618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3782999608211819406.post-532804756790179372009-08-10T20:00:07.437-05:002009-08-10T20:00:07.437-05:00I think it must depend on how you wash your dishes...I think it must depend on how you wash your dishes by hand. I've worried about this too and actually went back to using the dishwasher for a while for that very reason. BUT...I have a crappy dishwasher, so I don't think I use much more water now that I wash them by hand than I used to just rinsing, and my dishes are much sparklier. Also, they are always clean because I'm not watching the sink pile up while I wait for an entire dishwasher full to air dry enough to be put away. I know I could use the drying cycle, but that would waste unnecessary energy. So for now, I'm finding hand washing a lot simpler.

On another note: We've had a broken dryer for almost two years, and I agree - I think sheets and towels are the best reason to get it fixed, especially when you sleep with 2 dogs and 3 cats. One of these days I'll clean the laundry room so it doesn't look like a tornado went through and call someone. Every once in a while I look onlne to see how to replace the thermocouple? cuz I'd rather fix it myself, but so far no luck!

If you're ever in the area, pull in the drive and I'll show you how my SFG turned out. So far, it's growing well, but I've only done one 4x4 block. It's a work in progress. I also found the person who writes the $5 dinner website started one this year and it seems to be thriving.

I'm really excited that I figured out how to write a comment, cuz I have wanted to in the past but thought I had to have a google account. This was a much longer comment than I planned though. Oh well, absurd is my middle name!Carolenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3782999608211819406.post-63844056132279804112009-08-05T22:20:28.001-05:002009-08-05T22:20:28.001-05:00Isn't that amazing?!

It's a treat to find things that work that people have been safely using for thousands of years--it's like uncovering treasure or seeing writings from the library in Alexandria...

It is right under our noses now!Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01151628332074616618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3782999608211819406.post-74662510306769960222009-08-05T22:07:55.243-05:002009-08-05T22:07:55.243-05:00About the honey...I have a jar of NZ manuka here a...About the honey...I have a jar of NZ manuka here and I was showing it to my aunt the other day, a retired RN, and she mentioned that they had a doctor in the 70s-80s who told nurses to put raw honey on the open wounds of some of the patients in the hospital to fight infection and they all looked at him like he was stark raving mad. Turns out he was decades ahead of his time...JMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07633693109130292239noreply@blogger.com
